Questions & Answers about Energy Management

Quetion How does FM determine whether a specific investment in energy-saving technology, equipment or management practice is cost-effective?
Answer Project proposals go through a thorough payback analysis based on energy management industry standards. The base line criteria for approving investments is that the energy costs projected to be saved should be sufficient to “payback” the projects labor and material costs within five years.

Quetion Will saving energy in my building result in reduced thermal comfort levels?
Answer No. FM staff will not reduce comfort levels to save energy. In buildings where we have completed energy analyses and have upgraded controls or equipment, comfort has generally improved, or at the very least remained unchanged.

Quetion If I have an energy-saving idea or comfort complaint, who should I call?
Answer For us to assist you most effectively, please contact the FM Call Center at 624-2900. They will forward your call to an energy specialist or other appropriate personnel.
