Wayne has been with USIT since November 2004. Wayne began his career in information Technology at 3M Company 20 years ago. He spent 12 years at 3M working in the network services area working on development and installation of network management software and hardware needed to monitor the 3M worldwide network. After 3M he went to work for Northwest Airlines designing Internet Protocol (IP) networks were he designed and installed the first self service check-in machines at NWA hub locations across the US. After two and a half years at NWA, Wayne went to work for AT&T Solutions as director of Technologies supporting the UHG account in Minneapolis. In this role Wayne and his team designed, implemented and supported 250 UHG sites and four data centers located around the United States. He worked for AT&T as the Director of Technologies until he came to work at the University of Minnesota.

Currently Wayne's role in USIT is to provide the direction, management and support for the systems and applications in support of the Facilities Management business. Customer service and a high level of support is a priority for Wayne and his team.

Peggy began working in University Services Infrastructure Services in October, 2005. Peggy came to the University of Minnesota after spending 26 years working in various Accounting and Technology positions with American Express. Her most recent responsibilities at AMEX included managing the technology and support processes for over 200 American Express Field Offices. Her current University Services responsibilities include managing and coordinating the operational Systems Support, and desktop management of the University.

When not working, Peggy enjoys spending time with her husband Gary and two children. This involves many sporting activities and community events.

Jim Hansen, System Engineer

Jim started as a contractor here in Facilities Management and became a full time employee September 2003. Previously, Jim worked for U of M Physicians as a senior network analyst where he played a pivotal role in the merger of  the University Affiliated Family Physicians network, a metro-wide Novell network and U of M Physicians Microsoft network. Before working at UMP he was the networks manager at the U of M Department of Family Practice. When Jim began working for the Dept. of Family Practice they had only four PCs. When the network was complete there were seven clinics and five academic locations around the Twin Cities all sharing a common e-mail, calendaring, file and print services as well as clinic billing, scheduling and lab systems.

Michael has been with FM/IT since October of 2001. He has worked in information services since 1986 in one form or another. For most of the last ten years, Michael worked as a programmer in languages such as Business Basic, C++, Delphi, Java and Visual Basic.

Dan has been providing computer users with technical support for 19 years, the last 12 years in educational environments. He has been with USIT for over nine years and has seen FM customers through many upgrades and new processes and is the last of our staff who remembers just how rough the Windows 95 upgrade really was.

Veronica began contracting with us in April 2004. She was hired as an employee in November 2004. She had previously worked at Ceridian Corporation for five years providing virtual desktop support from Minneapolis to Puerto Rico. Prior to that she was a contractor at General Mills. She has over twelve years of experience in the IT field.
