The Facilities Management Customer Service Center (FMCSC) is the university’s one stop shop for 24/7 facilities service and support.  The FMCSC has two major functions. The Call Center is our customers' first point of contact for maintenance requests and general facilities needs and the Building Systems Automation Center (BSAC) provides 24/7 alarm management, technical services and after hours call center support.

Call Center

The FM Call Center is the first point of contact for all your facilities needs. Customers can reach the Call Center by phone, e-mail or on the internet.

Building Services Automation Center (BSAC)

Building Services Automation Center (BSAC) provides 24/7 building system and customer support services to the University of Minnesota campuses.  BSAC is the 24/7 contact for FM personnel requesting building systems support services and information. They also provide after hours customer support through the 24/7 customer service hotline 624-2900.

BSAC services provided to the Twin Cities and Duluth campuses include:

Alarm Management

The BSAC system reports alarm/failure conditions to the on duty building systems specialist. The BSAC team members ensure the right resources are contacted to address the emergency/failure.

Examples of conditions addressed by alarms include:

  1. Fire alarms
  2. Hazardous/toxic chemical leaks
  3. Heating
  4. Cooling
  5. Utility system
  6. Process research equipment such as refrigerators or incubators
  7. Elevator entrapment
  8. Animal research space
  9. Research lab environments

Customer Support

BSAC provides 24/7 call center support and technical services for Facilities Management and after hours customer support to ensure facilities emergencies can be responded to promptly. For after hours emergencies call 624-2900.

Costs

BSAC costs are part of the Administrative Service Unit system wide allocation pool.  They are not included in the Facilities – Operations and Maintenance allocation.  To provide a consistent and reliable customer service BSAC is audited each year by a third party agency that verifies that the process and training are current and fire life safety equipment meets specific industry operational standards.
