Starting on June 9 you may notice a new crew out in the districts. You will see a team that includes trades and District representatives taking store of what we’ve got stocked. We are trying to get our arms around parts, tools and materials with the goal of figuring out how to best use our inventory.
The teams will be concentrating on those things that are not in COMPASS. After learning what we’ve got the next steps will be putting a dollar value on items, tagging tools with i.d. numbers and working out a salvage plan for broken parts and those no longer being used by the Districts.
Great Performance – Standing Work Order Team
We recently pulled together a team to look at Standing Work Orders - those that are not intended to be closed for an extended period of time. An example would be the work order you bill time to for safety meetings. The team found that FM hasn’t been consistent in how we use standing work orders. They are designing a new system that will:
• Make time entry easier by having fewer work order numbers to search
• Increase customer satisfaction by improving billing accuracy
• Save money by reducing errors and the accounting time required to fix them
• Improve reporting by ensuring “cleaner” data
• Reduce the overall work order backlog by approximately 1,400
Team members were drawn from throughout FM which allowed us to create a solution that works for our entire organization. I appreciated all their effort as they sifted through a ton of information in a very short time. Thank you to:
• Kelly Richardson (Custodial Supervisor, East Bank District)
• Ron Mapston (Assoc. Dir, St. Paul District)
• Steve Pauling (Business Systems Analyst, IPM)
• George Hardgrove (Budget Analyst, Finance)
• John Sundsmo (Manager, Waste Services)
• Wendy Berkowitz (Assit. Dir, Finance)
• Ruthann Manlet (Team Mgr., St. Paul District)
• Rick Friebe (Planner/Scheduler, East Bank District)
• Jen Pierson (Energy Mgmt)
• Sean Schuller (Assit. Dir, IPM)
Keep up the good work.
Mike
