Re: Finals May 12 – May 17

I just wanted to remind everyone that we will be working with our partners from the Office of Classroom Management (OCM) to provide our students and faculty with a great finals experience.

Both May 10 and 11 are formally designated study days for students and final exams will be given May 12 through May 17. That means we need to limit disruptions (noise, strong odors, HVAC outages, construction etc.) in and around classrooms and classroom building. Buildings should be unlocked by 7:00 a.m., with classrooms prepared by 8:00 a.m and then remain open until 10:00 p.m.

Communications Specialist

We have said all along that communication is one key to making FM successful. To bolster our efforts we hired Chris Kelleher as our Communications Specialist (a position we have had vacant for nearly 2 years). He will be responsible for the department's internal and external communications efforts, including keeping up the website, writing and designing the newsletter and annual report, developing a communications plan and special event planning.

The former PR Manager at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Chris has 10 years of communications experience with the Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers and San Jose Sharks hockey teams, and the USA Baseball team. Most recently, he just completed a master's degree in photography at Ohio University and will be utilizing his photo skills to help expand the FM photo library to include images of our employees at work in the field. Please join me in welcoming Chris to FM.
