Re: Beautiful U Day

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of Beautiful U Day was a bright spot despite the gray sky. I enjoyed seeing many of you as President Bruininks kicked things off in our Como operations area, getting a chance to run a jack-hammer on the West Bank and then handing out some of the 10,000 compact florescent light bulbs at lunch on the Mall. Those bulbs will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1,028,549 pounds each year.

The day culminated with our custodial awards ceremony. Kudos goes to Marshall Skule and crew for producing and emceeing the special version of FM Jeopardy. We honored custodial service through three awards this year, Beautiful Classroom, Beautiful Building and Gold Standard.

Beautiful Classroom Peik Hall – Winner Congratulations to Genet Ababa and Azeb Roba   Rapson Hall – First runner up   Blegen Hall – Second runner up

Beautiful Building Folwell Hall – Winner Congratulation to Chris Clark, Christopher Duba, Gizaw Jilcha, Christopher Dalhoe and Kibret Gebremedhin   Elmer Anderson Library – First runner up   Nils Hasselmo Hall – Second runner up

Gold Standard Award This was the first year for the Gold Standard Award. One crew member was selected from each team who embodies excellent service and FM’s 3 C’s – Customer Focused, Culture of Accountability and Cost Effective. The winners are:

Elen Asfeday Hubert Browne Michael Dulski Bill Fimon
Don Baker Tom Chock Wayne Durst Vern Fynbu
Tim Brott John Cornwall Joan Falkenberg Warren Ganley
Brikti Haile Celso Lozano George Marquardt Elias Meskela
Brandon Neseth Adam Newton Dave Peterson Lureine Standfield
Steve Stumne Larry Van Grootheest Abadir Yoya

Keep up the good work.
Mike
