Re: Hiring Schedule Update

As we wrap up October, I wanted to update you on the status of the FM hiring process. The District Directors and Associate Directors have been working hard to build their district teams. In recent weeks, we have focused on filling the 19 Team Manager positions. Our Team Managers (formerly know as Team Leads) will be responsible for overseeing all the services FM provides in their team’s one million square foot area. We have interviewed 40 candidates and will begin making offers soon.

In addition to filling the Team Manager positions, we also started interviews on October 22 for the other District positions including:

  • Facility Supervisor
  • Maintenance Supervisor
  • Sr. B&G Supervisor
  • Project Coordinator
  • Planner/Scheduler

We expect the interview and selection process for these positions to take about five weeks and we anticipate making offers in late November or early December.

With all of the positions, we’re looking for experienced leaders who have outstanding communications skills and who embody our three C’s:

  • Customer-focused
  • Culture of accountability
  • Cost effective service

I’ve heard from some people that it feels like we’ve been working on this hiring process for a long time. While filling almost 60 positions is certainly time consuming, we said at the beginning of this process that we would sacrifice some time in order to build the most effective teams possible. I promise you we are moving as fast as possible to reduce the overall stress on our employees and the organization and that I am as eager as you are to complete the process and let the District Teams dig into their work.

Thank you all very much for your efforts to keep FM running while we transform. These changes will help us all deliver the customer-focused service needed to help make the U one of the top three research institutions in the world.

Keep up the good work.

Mike
