This time of year is always exciting here on campus. First year students are finding their way, returning students have moved in there are tons of new activities underway. Meanwhile the Republican National Convention is in full swing. This adds up to a lot of activity.
Do yourself a favor and allow extra time to both arrive at and leave from work during the next week. Please remain patient and lend a hand to those folks who are lost. Remember that the top deck of the Washington Avenue Bridge will have restricted use so this may create pedestrian/bike congestion.
The start of the school year is also a good time to remind everyone to make campus safety a priority. Please help keep yourself and the campus safe by using common sense measures such as securing your tools and valuables, being aware of strangers and unusual activities. If you observe anything suspicious or out of the ordinary, don't hesitate to dial 9-1-1 and contact the University Police Department.
Great Performance – Donna Hix, Elevator Shop
The campus elevators carry literally tons of equipment, students, faculty and staff everyday and like many of the things we do, folks don’t always notice until they aren’t working. That’s rarely a problem with the cars Donna is responsible for. Donna does a nice job of staying on top of her PM’s and squeezing more active hours out of the equipment. What’s out of the ordinary however is how she communicates with her customers. Donna is always careful to let folks in the North-West district know what’s going on. This in turn allows District staff to communicate to students and faculty so there aren’t any surprises. Thank you Ms. Hix!
Keep up the good work.
