One of the 3C’s of Facilities Management is Customer Focused. For FM this means building strong relationships with students, faculty and staff so that we can anticipate their needs and customize our services to meet them. A prime measurement of our success in achieving customer focus is the annual University Services Star Performer awards, which are given out each Fall to U Services employees and teams of employees who have delighted their customers over the past year. FM Employees received five of the 12 awards presented this year at the U Services Leadership Forum on Thursday, November 6. I’d like to congratulate the following FM Star Performers for their exemplary customer focus this year:
Nirmal Jain, Energy Management Principle Engineer
Nirmal was recognized for his leadership and partnership with the TCF Bank Stadium Project Office in the effort to complete work on the district infrastructure, the Mariucci Arena Chiller connection and TCF Bank Stadium.
Jim Larson, Senior Building and Grounds Worker
Jim serves the occupants of Johnston Hall, and the nomination form they wrote tells the story better than anything: “Jim Larson is one of the most customer-conscious employees we have ever encountered. He is incredibly responsive to our needs and often anticipates them and has them remedied before we even seek assistance.”
Jennifer Pierson, Energy Management Associate Administrator
In her four years with Energy Management, Jennifer’s outstanding service, high energy and initiative have consistently gone well past “above and beyond.” She has the knowledge and ability to get things done and she is willing to step outside her comfort zone and provide the gentle influence necessary to move a project along.
Tom Ritzer, Landscape Architect
Six different individuals submitted nominations for Tom Ritzer and the comments show how Tom’s actions reflect the University Services Leadership competencies in the work that he does everyday. Here is an example of some of the comments Tom received: "He presents an attitude (backed up with behavior) of working as a team player, with a can-do approach accompanied with problem solving skills to get things done."
Cornado Relopez and Mike Baudette, Buildings and Grounds Workers
Cornado and Mike were specifically recognized by representatives of the Economics Department in Heller Hall. According to the Economics staff, their professionalism, excellent service and initiative made them the best custodians the Economics department had seen in more than 40 years.
Keep up the good work!
