Re: Finals May 11 – 16

I just wanted to remind everyone that we will be working with our partners from the Office of Classroom Management (OCM) to provide our students and faculty with a great finals experience.

Both May 9 and 10 are formally designated study days for students and final exams will be given May 11 through May 16. That means we need to limit disruptions (noise, strong odors, HVAC outages, construction etc.) in and around classrooms and classroom buildings. Buildings should be unlocked by 7:00 a.m., with classrooms prepared by 8:00 a.m and then remain open until 10:00 p.m.

Great Performance: Mayo Vent Cleaning Team
Mechanics Mike Kane, Jerry Ilstrup, Randy Frederick, Kelly O'Brien, Electrician Jim Yobbie, Sheet Metal Workers Ken Anderson, John Lauzon, Abatement Service support Sean Gabor and Jayd Lindom, Project Coordinator John Stoffel

This multidisciplinary team leveraged R&R/HEAPR dollars to tackle getting most of Mayo’s vents cleaned and up to snuff. As anyone who’s spent time in Mayo knows, its an old building with many “quirks.” Just tracking the vent system as is winds it way through the building is no small feat. The team provided power, changed filters, took care of asbestos issues and balanced customer needs with the project schedule.

The results are outstanding. Our customers benefit from increased airflow, better heat/cooling control and cleaner air. The HVAC systems are balanced and we all know this leads to higher energy efficiency. This means our Mayo customers and the University are also saving money. This project is a great example of folks working together to improve the U. Keep up the good work!
