For several months now, the national economic crisis and the state budget shortfall have been the dominant
topics of discussion on the nightly news, in newspapers and magazines, and on-line. Here in FM we've spent
much of the winter working to prioritize activities, identify savings opportunities and looking for creative options to
preserve the core strengths in each unit. Even though the situation continues to change quickly, we believe it is
important to update you on what we know about how the University will be impacted by the state budget deficit
and the federal stimulus bill.
With that in mind, please join Vice President Kathleen O’Brien and the University Services Leadership Team for a
discussion of University Services budget issues. The informational meetings will provide an overview of the
budget, give an update on University budget principles and strategies, and address the critical challenges we face
as a University and within University Services.
All University Services employees are invited to attend one of the meetings. As you can see from the schedule
below, the meetings are planned for different times and across campus with the hope that everyone in University
Services will have an opportunity to attend.
