Part of getting a job done is having the right tools. In the past we haven’t been real good at keeping track of who has tools, which tools the University provides, which tools employees have supplied and where they are being stored. Starting in February, our inventory team is going to be meeting with representatives from each Trade to develop a standard tool list.
Next, starting in mid February and running through mid March, we’ll be checking with each employee to make sure they have all the tools from the standard tool list. As new employees come on board, they will be issued a standard kit tailored to their craft and when employees leave the University they will be expected to turn in the same kit. We believe this effort will help make sure everyone has the right tools as well as cutting down on the number of tools which need to be reordered.
Great Performance – Eric Hagen, Mech 3, St. Paul District
It’s a rare problem that can be solved by just one person. Even when you know the right answer, it often takes others to help you implement the solution. Such was the case over at the College of Veterinary Medicine. Eric was able to jump in and help a technician who was having trouble installing filters on the De-Ionized or DI water system. These systems provide pure water needed in a research or medical environment. According to our client,
“If it wasn’t for Eric’s support…the DI system might still be nonfunctional. Eric’s help allowed us to get the analyzers in the laboratory running much sooner, thereby contributing to providing excellent patient care in our hospital. The technical staff in the lab were very appreciative of his efforts…”
Eric did a great job of lending his expertise to help get the work done and our customers back up and running. Thanks Mr. Hagen!
Keep up the good work.
