While most large asbestos abatement projects are contracted to private companies, Facilities Management maintains an in-house abatement staff to handle urgent repair of building system equipment. The staff consists of state certified abatement specialists, who are also trained to handle abatement of lead and fungus containing materials. Please vist the Hazardous Materials and Asbestos Abatement website for more information. Elevator Shop The elevator shop handles all aspects of elevator maintenance and service at the university's Twin Cities campus, such as safety inspections, routine repair and preventive maintenance. The shop services all supported buildings and provides 24-hour, year-round service on 242 pieces of equipment (215 elevators, 14 escalators, 7 dumbwaiters, 1 organ lift and 5 disability lifts). FM Stores FM Stores is the primary means for acquiring parts, tools and equipment for the university, Facilities Management and Capital Planning and Project Management. FM Stores operates parts warehouses and a tool crib, which provide parts, material, tools, equipment and transportation to our trades workers. Landcare Landcare presents a beautiful, safe and accessible exterior environment to campus users throughout the year. As part of the FM team, we provide efficient, cost effective stewardship of natural and built campus assets. Visit the landcare page for more information.
