Asbestos Abatement
While most large asbestos abatement projects are contracted to private companies, Facilities Management maintains an in-house abatement staff to handle urgent repair of building system equipment. The staff consists of state certified abatement specialists, who are also trained to handle abatement of lead and fungus containing materials.

Asbestos Abatement is a division of the Building Services unit.

Elevator Shop
Safety inspections, routine repair and preventive maintenance of the campus’s 242 pieces of equipment. 215 elevators, 14 escalators, 7 dumbwaiters, 1 organ lift and 5 disability lifts are among the Elevator Shop’s primary responsibilities. The shop services all supported buildings. The shop also provides 24 hour, year-round service for after hours emergencies.

Facilities Records
This group provides comprehensive facilities and engineering document management services focusing on retention of original construction and project renovation document records, equipment systems manuals, core University infrastructure documentation and the official campus map.

Records is a division of the Energy Management unit.

Signs and Graphics
Sign Shop Painter working on a Goldy Gopher signThe Signs and Graphics unit produces most of the exterior and interior facility signage seen around campus. The Sign Shop’s experienced staff offers graphic services in the following areas: event and temporary signs (banners, displays, showcards), engraved signs and awards (nametags, nameplates, plaques, laser engravings), custom signs (large format printing, hand-lettered signs and murals, dimensional lettered signs) and consulting (building sign schedules, sign design, project management).
